International Monte-Carlo Circus Festival

Cannes Dance Festival 2007

An event not to miss this coming autumn is the Dance Festival presided by Rosella Hightower. This festival, founded in 1984 by the City of Cannes is  one of the major choreographic events in France. Directed by Yorgos Loukos, also Lyons National Opera Ballet’s Director, the festival features each year from five to six world creations, including French Premières young  talents and many famous dance celebrities. Since its first season, the festival has welcomed more than 150 companies. Lausanne Béjart Ballet, Bill T. Jones, Geneva Great Theater Ballet, Trisha Brown companies, Lucinda Childs, Maguy Marin, William Forsythe, Eva Yerbabuena, Batsheva Dance Company, DCA Philippe Decouflé, as well as many other young talents: The Castafiore Company, Stephen Petronio, Denis Plassard, Stanislaw Wisniewski, Hervé Robbe, Russell Maliphant, Catherine Diverrès. These well-known choreographers, dancers and musicians have given this Dance Festival national and international fame. A Biennale event since 1993, the Festival will celebrate its 16th anniversary from 23  November  to 1 December, 2007 giving  to its ever growing and faithful public an audacious and creative selection, which reflects choreographic dynamism and diversity. The Dance Festival will take place for a week from  23 November  to 1 December  in the Palais des Festivals, the Théâtre Noga Croisette and the Théâtre La Licorne. “The Cannes Dance Festival was able to create deep emotions. Nice Tramway: Inauguration  November 24, 2007

“ Finally! “ is what the inhabitants of Nice will undoubtedly cry on Saturday, November 24 during the official inauguration of the line 1 of Nice tramway.. For long months, they have supported the works and their pressures. For long months the dealers close to the construction site have seen their business figure declinel. Their only dream: to see the Nice tramway circulating continuously in Nice. The line T1 consists of an initial course of 8,7 Km which will be extended of 4,5 Km until La Trinité.The passenger will have to buy a ticket at the basic rate fixed at 1,30 euro with various types of subscriptions and reduction. This title of transport will be able to be used for any correspondence transportation by bus within the territory of Nice Côte d’Azur Agglomeration. This ticket will also include the parking in intermediary parks. In fact, from the beginning of this service of the tramway, in 2007, the motorists will benefit from these new  parking facilities. They will be able to park their vehicle there and use the tramway to easily join in few minutes Nice center. Since some weeks, tests are already being performed. They allow to change some parameters but also and especially to form the drivers. From day to day, we notice the work going on. Now the works are at a finishing stage: pose of the turf, panels, installation of shelters for the passengers. The police makes controls in order to prevent the untimely usage of the tramway tracks. We have assisted to a car getting stuck in Avenue Jean Jaurès during the night between Saturday and Sunday after getting stuck on a grassy part of the Line 1. Verbalizations and preventions are taking place to teach the inhabitants of Nice not to bother the circulation of the tramway. It is a classical stage which takes place in all the cities.
